More than a third of applications for regularization of illegal domestic workers in Rome have been processed.
Some 32,000 summoning letters have been sent to employers, and about 12,000 have already reported at the Immigrations Office at the Prefecture to undersign the residency contract.
All who submitted applications until 12th September 2009 have been summoned, says a statement issued by Rome’s Immigrations Office at the Prefecture.
The applications are being processed in order of arrival, but this will not affect the decision whether to accept the application or not. All who meet the conditions for regularization will be regularized whether they applied on the first or the last day.
Those who submitted their applications after 12th September 2009 are advised not to call the immigrations office seeking information about their applications. All applications submitted in Rome may be cleared by July, the statement said.
