The way in which the situation is being managed in Rosarno after the revolt of immigrants puts us in one serious reflection on immigration and the job situation in Italy. The reflection concentrates on the legal status of immigrants who have been involved in the revolt, but nearly not at all on their job condition.
No any politician in this country has come up with any statement regarding their work condition.
Sure always it has been known that, like in many other places in this civil country, that most of these immigrants work in black, they are underpaid or paid a very little salary and they live in conditions not only intolerable, but also cruel.
This vision of the truth makes me ask which is the concept of the person, the immigrant, the job that the politicians have.
A human being can suffer, be taken advantage of, to become violence victim, but if all this happens in hush, nothing in order to solve the problem is made. When it only succeeds something that it provokes the anger of the persons, than pushes them to react in a way that disturbs the quiet ones, then it attracts the attention of the majority.
Unfortunately when it is decided to take part, it is made in order to bring back social order and calm in the city. But absolutely nothing is made in order to solve the problem from the roots.
